Just watched an episode of Randall & Hopkirk deceased on ITV4 (UK). Sad I know, but there you are. Anyway, one of the characters (a girl supposed to have been murdered) has a +2 which appears briefly (40minutes in) as it is being driven into a garage. Nice red early +2, with an in period mod of a third light above the numberplate - or it could be a handle - difficult to tell! Anyway, I wonder if LPW120E is still about? Anyone out there got it & is unaware of its brief moment of stardom?!

Nothing wrong with R&H - classic telly
If I recall it was referred to as a "special sports" or "sports special". Colin probably refused to pay for the advert'

If I remember my registration numbers correctly, an 'E' registration was on a car registered between Jan '67 and Aug '67....before the Plus 2 was available. So either a borrowed number from the Lotus fleet or just made up for television. May be very difficult to identify the real car. What colour was it?

I think thats the car used by the factory as thier press demonstrator, and therefore features in all of the lotus books, I also believe it is build number 14 and was seen at Donnington, restored a few years back.
That'll be the one with Graham Arnolds tweaked engine !!
This may all be just me halucinating though, so don't take it as gospel

After a little electrotrickery here are some images from the episode for the archivists amongst us!
Is that a third light above the numberplate or a handle?

Its a handle - early cars had an external boot handle.
Here's another picture.

Spot the difference...
LPW 120E
And
LPW 120E
Looks as though LPW 120E was a number lotus used on more than one car, the first picture shows a very early car with the Alfa rear lights and Elan +2 badge on the rear. The second a slightly later car with the Jaguar rear lights.
I wonder how many LPW 120E's there were!

thats mighty interesting, also notice in the pics with Alfa lights, the boot handle is the lopsided baby elan type and in the second photo its the T handle
My car has the later lights but the early boot handle
A later press car was LPW120 F
wonder if they were the same car?
