Classic Elan Required for a Magazine Photo Shoot

Do you own a Classic Elan?

If so please read the request below from a well known Classic Car magazine:

***************

I'm looking for a Lotus Elan convertible (S1-S4) for a magazine photoshoot next week. I'm hoping you may be able to help me locate a suitable car with a willing owner.

We need a car in factory standard specification ? no modifications like different wheels, or seats, highly polished parts in the engine bay etc. Colour is flexible, but not white or black.

The photoshoot will be on Thursday May 5th at Brands Hatch race circuit, Kent, meeting around 8:30am and lasting all day.

***************

If you own or know of such a car & are interested in taking part please send an email ASAP to \[[email protected]\][email protected]\[/EMAIL\] with the details of the car & your details including a phone number & we'll put you in touch.

Thanks for the info.

I took my Sprint down to the photo shoot last Thursday. There were 9 cars in total my Sprint, a MG Midget (73 chrome bumper), a Cobra replica, Lancia Integrale, Renault 5 Turbo2, Alpine 110, Ford Excort Mexico, Porche 911 RS and a TVR S3. The nice people from Classic Car magazine insisted in putting the Elan at the front of the main photo with all the other cars behind it (it appears that Elans help sell magazines). Most of the cars were red so turning up with a bright yellow car also helped.

I have never been to a photo shoot before so it was interesting to watch the 'professionals' at work. As a bonus we all got to drive round Brands Hatch as well, although we were asked to keep the speed under 50mph as nobody had helmets.

There was a short interview session with more photographs of the car, the interior and the engine bay.

I have some photos of the main group if anybody would like me to email them a copy.

All in all a fun day out from work..

It seems the plan is to use the group photo on the front cover of the next issue, due out at the beginning of June. Thanks to this forum my car will be on the cover... :D

(Driving back around the M25 in heavy traffic with the roof down through the Dartford tunnel was not fun as I arrived home smelling strongly of diesel fumes but at least I know the Elan can still cope with heavy traffic)

Thanks for so ably representing the Elan, and thanks for the photos. (Also an Elan owner with a fondness for Alpines)
