Sweet Music from 26/5255

PostPost by: DJThom » Wed Apr 25, 2007 1:28 am

Tonight I started the Elan for the first time ever. :D How sweet it was! I'm only 2.5 years into a 1 year restoration, but the wait was more than worth it. I just had the header on, which made the music even better.

Recently I've been dogged by alternating starter woes (terminal-coil joint melted) and intermittant fuel pump performance (fixed with electric Carter pump in trunk) and also slowed by a new baby boy.

Putting cherry venere on my dash is the next big step, after which there is a long, but shortening, list of small outstanding items.

You're right, sweet music is the perfect term. Both of my Lotuses start to sing around 4800 rpm and above that it's an opera. I wonder how many women hear it.

I also finally managed to fire up my Elan last weekend after the winter maintenance over ran a bit. Sweet music indeed especially with the new racing exhaust system 8)

Dunno.....not many seem to get it.
Only once have I heard a woman comment on how good an engine sounded and that was a Rolls Merlin on a low fast pass.

I, of course, being a bloke, was speechless.

Ralph.
