And me!!

Only a few minutes to go but I keep hoping there'll be more - oh what's this, a recording from the car - they're looking for it - the excitement...

Pah! All too short a clip of the car. Don't the producers understand that the only reason most of us blokes watch is for the old cars!!!

Ok. The wife's just replayed it on Sky+, and the number plate is NYL 1L(premumably not real). Very sweet looking car though.

It looked and sounded the business as it sped off around that corner!

I was so excited telling the wife a Sprint was on the telly I think I missed some of it.

Lets hope the main character, Sam, decides to impound the Sprint and use it in all subsequent episodes!

My wife woke me from my dosing saying "that?s you car". I woke just in time to see it going around the corner - then spent the rest of the program in expectation of seeing it again.
I didn?t understand the story-line, but did stay awake. Perhaps it was too intellectual for me.

Me Too! Learn't to drive in a MkIII Cortina, first car a MkII. There was a program on last night about the Capri, had two guys on who had managed to track down and buy The Professionals Capri's - the shots of them driving around were filmed where I work - too bad I missed them filming

I have to admit to having an emotional attachment to the MKIII Cortina.
As an automotive virgin, I joined Ford in early 1970 to work on that program. My feet didn't touch the ground working 24/7 for two years until all efforts were transferred to the MKII Capri.
There aren?t many Cortinas and Capris about anymore ? like all other cars of their day, they started to rust before they got to the showrooms.

By the way, the reason I sold my 65/S2 in 1972 was that it saw the road only twice since joining Ford, and I thought it was losing money ---- what an idiot.

The Life on Mars production crew asked me to find an Elan for them last year, they said they would take my yellow/white Sprint, and could I get them some other "sporty period cars"? Went to a great deal of trouble finding what they wanted, arranging with owners to make them available on certain days, etc. Then they changed their minds, changed the days, changed the cars, wanted a red Sprint, not yellow, then they wanted yellow tomorrow, then cancelled and wanted red again....... In the end I told them that Chris Neil's had a red/white Sprint and please do not phone me again!!

They were offering ?100/day cash plus all the bacon sarnies I could eat!

And I missed the episode too!

Cheers Luvvies,
Pete.

if you have digital TV and can get BBC3 or 4 the episode is repeated next week for all those who missed it.

I just saw this episode, and the funny thing is that before watching I was asking myself if the show would ever feature more exciting cars than Fords and Austins and such, which I figure were par for the course in gritty everyday settings in the time and place being depicted.

You're probably wondering how a goofy Yank like me is watching old episodes of Life On Mars. A year or two after the original, the show was adapted for US TV (I was aware of it but didn't see it when it ran), and Mrs. Veg recently bought the DVD set since she loves all things '60s/'70s. We have a streaming service called Britbox that carries a lot of UK TV, which I love, so when I found that they carried LoM I dug right in. Mrs. V. thinks the UK original is OK but likes the Yank version better because of Harvey Keitel as Hunt, although I like the original better for a variety or reasons.

Anyway, does anybody here own that red Sprint, or know who does?
