Search the forum (e.g. search for "remove body") and you will find a lot of threads and at least one checklist. The workshop manual has instructions but as is often the case it's pretty cryptic. IIRC the Robinshaw & Ross book has a comprehensive checklist too.

Aside from all the regular disconnections, you will have to remove the carb's and heater valve (at least) to lift the body off around the engine.

Hi Mark

I found that loosening the engine mounts and gently jacking the engine from underneath allows you enough space to unscrew the heater control valve (just). That was the only brain teaser for me. The rest is just planning.

Good luck

Mark,
What's going on here? When I saw your car not long ago it looked pretty damned good to me.

Cheers,
Pete.

Hi Pete,
Me and my mate have just bought an S4 that has not been run in 24 years. We want restore to its former self and also improve it a little for track days. The car is totally origional and has covered 61k miles, however this is a 2+ year project. The engine is on Strombergs and will crank over, but a core plug has rusted through. Interior is very good considering. Gearbox "feels" fine.

I now you replaced your chassis a while ago so any tips would be more than welcome.

We have bought a new and uprated (almost 26R Spec) chassis from Pat Thomas, strengthened in all the right places, a good place to start from.

cheers
Mark
