New Car Design - On Lotus Principles

Somewhat away from Elans, I know, but interesting design philosophy used in this new car; light weight, efficient engine. Would Chapman have approved?

But why is so INCREDIBLY long in the back, had it only been lower and chopped/rounded in the back, the whole visual aspect would have been improved a hundredfold.....

I think he would. Makes a refreshing change from the bloated offerings from the major manufacturers, where every new model seems to have to be heavier and bigger than the last. This thing weighs less than half as much as a Mini!
Amazing fuel consumption as well

Great design philosophy I agree...but it's so f'ugly!
I'm thinking pre-war Tatra, Freestone and Webb slab sides and eco-car from Honda.
Not a design classic, I fear, and not destined to be around very long.

Forget it being "around". It is not here! It is nothing but a website. If the LOREMO does happen to be more than a hoax or scam it won't be "around" for three years! (2009 according to the website).

I don't think Chapman would have approved of the styling! There is a lot of talk about SUV's and taxation etc and CO2 based company tax in the UK. I think a weight based tax system would really get the automotive juices flowing! It also reduces the need for ever increasing A pillar diameters etc that you can't see round.
