Where To Get Cheap Car Insurance?

PostPost by: ed_vh » Mon Oct 06, 2003 4:50 pm

Hi,

I am after some insurance for my Lotus (in the UK). Anybody found any cheap offerings.

Car Lotus Elan +2S130
Year 1973
30 year old driver no accidents or convictions etc.

Cheapest I have found is ?215 for 4K miles per year from Diamond car insurance. Anybody have any good or bad experiences?

Thanks

I pay about that much but have unlimited mileage, business use and breakdown cover with Footman James for my Elan Sprint. If I found anything cheaper I would check the small print very carefully

Try Footman James on 0121 561 4196 as they were ?120 unlimited miles (it was a couple of years ago though !!) and it helps if you are a member of Club Lotus. You can also try Classic Line (if the car is garaged) on 01455 639000, they were ?233 for 6k miles on my '89 Esprit Turbo. Hope this helps.

I also use Footman James and its about ?230 which covers both my Sprint & Europa, unlimited milage for both myself & wife (no track days) also covers European breakdown cover. I think the area and if you have other cars (so its not your daily transport) play an important factor in the price. I have heard "Heritage"
do some good deals but could not beat F/J for me.

I am with the above. Possibly not the cheapest but very competitive and very good cover. They have been in the classic car market for many years and know what classic car owners want.

Great! Thanks for all the replies.

FJ quoted ?163 fully comp for me and my girlfriend including breakdown assistance across UK and Europe.

Bargain!!

Thanks for all the advice.
