So what does your Elan/Plus2 look like today?
Popped over to see Sue Miller last Friday to let her see where the parts she supplied ended up, couldn't resist the photo opportunity
Sue was very happy to chat as usual and made the wife and me a nice cup of tea, which we duly drank while relaxing in an old pair of Europa seats she has in her office, very comfortable.
Chris.

Looks good, Bill, is it now a Elan Sprinthree? Let's hope the pleasure you get from driving it as much as the rebuilding.

I think it was originally an Elan S/E, Malcolm Ricketts was the only previous owner.
I had the engine uprated and my unique (?) colour scheme done in a return to concourse refurb by Vegantune Spalding in 1982/83. Oh and the wheel arches had been changed to S4 type, to allow 155 tyres, from very early on.
I still have problems which I could not know until it was street legal. Piston4 is not pulling its weight, so I need to do a complete clean-out of its carb.

Far too hot for bonnet fettling - so I took the old girl out for a blast.
Cracking acceleration - but kept to the speed limit - because the rear bonnet clips keep popping at 60 (pain in the a**e)
Went into Lochgilphead to fill up and met a group of German bikers (always plenty of tourist bikers round here).
One told me that his Dad used to have a +2. I was very flattered when he took photos of my car (warts and all) from just about every conceivable angle.

Today was a "take your lotus to work day" IMHO. Bright blue sky 60F/15C out with an expected high of 80F/26C. I work in the city, and they like to work on all roads at the same time, so can be dicey, but it was clear today. Very nice drive. Hope for the same going home. Cheers, Dan

Work has started, brakes off and prepping for rebuild. Chassis to clean and paint, carbs to sort. Probably going to look like this for a while as going to be a month with no time to do much to it
'73 +2 130/5 RHD, now on the road and very slowly rolling though a "restoration"

After a couple of months rectifying the work carried out by a new Lotus 'specialist' the Elan is now on the road and in daily use. There was nothing dangerous done to the car, but it was as if I'd taken the car to a local garage whom had no experience of Elans and couldn't tighten much beyond finger tight... An expensive learning curve, but a mistake only made once. When I have some time I'll list what the 'specialist' did and didn't do, but right now I'm too busy enjoying the Elan in the sunshine
