My two Elan projects have been sitting sidelined while I work on my S2 Seven. While I was cleaning it and removing parts I think I discovered that the most recent paint on it might actually be Medici blue! The paint is quite faded on the body work (the most recent registration on the car is 1976) and looks quite pale now, but when I pulled off the windscreen, in the area below the windscreen I found a patch of paint that was not faded and it looks like it might be Medici Blue. I was thinking of possibly leaving the paint as is, or reverting the car to the white, but now I would like to confirm if the blue is in fact Medici. At this point I would like to be able to mix up some PPG in Medici Blue and see how it matches the paint under the windscreen mounting, so I am wondering if any of you have a good match for Medici Blue in PPG codes (or another paint code which I might be able to cross reference, or mixing numbers)?

I will be painting another vehicle in my chosen colour to test it out. I will post some pictures when they are painted. Now all I need is some time to get the projects done...

I bought my +2 from a Lotus guy, sold as French Blue. It is actually much closer to Ford bright dark blue metallic.
Snowy, its been snowing here
The problem, is in N America the PPG etc are not supported. It has been very difficult for me to choose and figure what is best. I went to Canadian Tire and bought 12 or so spray cans, which got me close. I had previously been to 3 auto body shops and had the colour “shot” with a camera which gives a paint code. All 3 very wrong. But, between these and Cdn Tire. Then some help from the 1st paint shop, I am content with the bright dark blue metallic, which is not French. But I like the pigments and metallic.

Thanks, We have snow here too, though not as much.
I found a local guy to do the final bit of bodywork and paint. Crusty old bastard but 50yrs of paint fumes will do that I suppose.
I have no sample available for the Lotus French blue, and the Grabber blue is the closest I could find that is what I 'think' French blue is...based on the majority of pics claiming to be french blue.
I'm more curious about how close they are than actually matching it. The Grabber is nice for me, but I'm a solid colour person, never been a huge fan of metallics.
On my monitors the blue in the link below is what I'm after.
