26R Style car advice.

PostPost by: Elan Peter » Mon Apr 08, 2019 3:20 pm

Hello, here is an image showing how we intend to do the interior. We plan to make it as accurate to the photographs as possible. The interior of this car is basically standard, bar the bucket seats and rollover bar.
I know it won't be the lightest 26R replica around but at least it will be true to the original.
We want to put a 14" 26R springall wheel in it as it will be slightly smaller and not as fragile!
Best regards, P
P.S. I will post some pictures of the car once it arrives next week!

Then please don't give it a red rimmed steering wheel!

Black rimmed wheels look better!
I plan to buy one for it! I know of a man...

After reading this, the best thing I could do would be to get a BRM plaque for the cylinder head! I am looking forward to reading that list in great detail and building the car up to satisfy the list!
With the photograph above, my own knowledge and the list, I can make it very accurate to the original!
Also, below is the steering wheel I intend to put on it. It is larger than the Tony Thompson wheels are and is identical to the originals.
Best regards, P

Peter. Couple more photos my wife took of 26 / R / 27 in Tokyo. This will be slightly different to the Re-Build you are doing as it has a Full Width Dash, as opposed to the early 1/2 width, but the trim spec' and seats look pretty much the same.

May be of use to you.

Thank you, that is great. This was the first original 26R interior I saw and it gave me the idea. Like you say I will be using the half width dashboard as I prefer it and it is higher so I should be able to get my legs under it (my legs actually the hit the bottom of the s2 dash).

Now that we have the aesthetics of the car sorted I would like to ask another question. Does anybody know how much it would be to have a Lotus twin cam rebuilt to give roughly 140BHP? that would be the ideal performance target for it as I don't want it to be overly powerful!

Ok, I have a problem. I was dead set on painting the car wedgwood blue however I have just seen these historic rally photographs and they show a beautiful white s2! So I decided that I would seek advice from you, the "experts".
Imagine a white 26R style car with black roof, silver bumpers and black magnesium wheels and then imagine a wedgwood blue car with a wedgwood blue roof!
What colour should I paint it?
Best regards, P

Beautiful. That is good advice!
Yeah I suppose seeing as I already have one white one, it might be nice to have the matching each other!
The original colour was blue though so I'm still in two minds!
Thank you for the pictures!
Best regards, P

Wedge wood blue for me! Especially as original color and where is the fun of having two cars the same colour! But it's only your opinion that matters!

That's true. I think wedgwood blue would be good especially as it has been the colour I've always wanted to do it. Saw the white one though and fell in love with it. I suppose though, a wedgwood blue car would be stunning!

Hello everybody, does anyone know what the difference between the B chassis and the C chassis at Tony Thompson Racing? Any advice would be smashing.
