why the name change and why choose one that is mildly offensive?

"Piss-ant" is a very old English word to describe a type of ant that smelled like urine when it was squashed. Another version of it is "pissmire" more commonly found in English as spoken in Ireland. The word "piss" was an honest everyday word spoken by all classes of people, until Victorian prudery decided it offensive. I admit that I raised an eyebrow when I first saw Gary using it, but that surprise was quickly replaced by a smile. I bet most people using this forum find it easy to remember!

John Larkin.

I must admit to raising a slight smile when Gary changed his user name. Back in the days when a proud new owner was gently running-in his fresh from the factory S4 Elan (before it deteriorated into the wreck I bought 15yrs later) Pisquick Tours was taking it's first tentative steps. Starting in 69 and continuing (very loosely) until the present day it was a just bunch of us who used to go off on motorcycle or van trips. The name originated from the very short, err, "comfort" breaks that were necessary on some of the very early van trips and just stuck.
A few of the then older generation (younger than I am now!) did raise an eyebrow at the name but I can't recollect anyone actually taking offence. It can't be that bad as I registered http://www.pisquicktours.co.uk without any problems to write up some of the trips and have pisquick as a user name on a number of biker sites. These days it's my kids who look at me strangely when I mention the name!

Gary changed his name to piss-ant, but AFAIKT not for any malicious reason and I don't think he has used his old ID since creating the new one, so it isn't really a multiple identity.

Alternative, slang, definition for "pissant" in Wikipedia:
"Pissant is an epithet for an inconsequential, irrelevant, or worthless person, especially one who is irritating or contemptible out of proportion to his or her significance."
Yes, Wikipedia has its failings and is often known as where truth is defined as anything that has not been edited in the last twenty minutes. However this coincides with my understanding of a common use. I could well imagine Gary's mother, or mine as well, using the term in dealing with a fit of petulance. I laughed when I saw Gary's new user name and immediately thought it was him. We never answered the mischievous twin question. Yes, it is Beauregard, Gary's four-legged co-pilot and slime ball retriever.

You did not answer DJ's question nor did you didn't respond to the PM that I sent. Maybe the answer is the non-answer?

I was initially disturbed about the accusations that were made & thought that I was perhaps in need of some education on the ways of LotusElan.net.
Obviously the thread, has for that reason, held my attention but there has been no further post from anyone to confirm one persons "observation"
I've totally lost interest in the topic due to the failing feedback & have put it down to some form of paranoia on the posters behalf.
Each to his own, as they say.

Well you've lost me there Gary; is it me or you that's on another planet

Dual Identities & the reason for, is what Eric was harping on about.
"was" being the state of the game, as you noted in your previous post remarking on the lack of clarification.

I'm bored now; let's talk Elans or share a joke or something & get off this crap

Cheers
