Brian Buckland Book
I just received a copy of Brian Buckland's book, and it's fantastic! Even at the high price, there is no way the author could be making any money on this book. It is so thorough, with great color photos throughout, many illustrating minor changes from model to model.
Available in North America at: http://www.rebuildingalotuselan.com
$149.00 + $9.95 S&H
Mine came in two days! Makes you want to take something apart and put it back together again.

You'll be seeing it and Brian at Stoneleigh as he's giving talks most of the day on different Elan restoration topics.
The book is a lot more expensive than you think, Gary. The purchase price has got to be cheap for 4 years hard work and 35 years experience with one model of car. But it's fired me up enough to go out and buy a S4 dhc ripe for full restoration to try out all the bits in the book! So it will end up costing me thousands of pounds and hundreds of hours.
Can't thank Brian enough

Just received mine (a birthday present - lucky me) and it is, I would say, an absolute must-have for all Elan owners. Get one! (Price? - why concern yourself with the price? - you'll be able to name your own price for a copy on eBay in ten years' time or so - just look on it as a medium to long-term investment and use and enjoy it in the meantime).

I think it's worth it for a Plus 2 owner...probably 70% of the 'how to' info is common. The bits that the Plus 2 owner will miss out on is the originality stuff...the trim, door locks, brackets etc. that changed from S1 - S4 Sprint. It would be grand to see a suppliment for the book for the Plus 2.
I'm currently completing a nut & bolt restoration on a late 130/5, and will take photos of all the detail stuff as it goes back together. Could be a starter for a suppliment, and I'm sure there's enough knowledge on the forum to complete the work. A bit like the Ross / Robinshaw book evolving. May be worth a separate thread to explore who may be interested in contributing, and of course a natter with Brian to see if he's interested. There are a lot of changes from an early car to the late ones which don't seem to be documented anywhere.

So I have just ordered my copy... even though I no longer own an Elan or any Lotus for that matter The interest is still there!

I'm reliably informed that Brian will be at the Stonliegh event, giving lectures & signing copies of "the book".

I was also lucky enough to get a copy of this for my birthday! I'd flippantly said that I didn't want anything else as long as I got the book... guess my husband took me at my word on that one!!
It's a great book and I'm really interested to hear Brian will be at Stoneleigh - I'll certainly be there to see him!

I do not own a lotus but I have always considered an elan one of the most beautiful cars in the world. I go to the car show in Charlotte, NC twice a year at lowes motor speedway. On highway 64 in Hendersonville, NC on the way to the carshow I saw a dark green elan coupe. It was the best car I saw that day. I just ordered Brian's book. It is a way for me to enjoy this remarkable car even if I never get to own one. I lurk on this list for that same reason.

Received my copy of Brian's book earlier in the week. Simply fantastic! If you go by the pound (weight) it is comparably priced to any other book. It is HEAVY! Just chock-a-block with great information that everyone wished they had when they executed their Elan restoration. I know I do. Worth every monetary unit used to purchase it!
