Hi,
Recently I noticed the vin number on my v5 doc didn't match the plate on the body of the elan.
Spoke with andy graham (lotus archivist) who provided a supportive letter for dvlc. Dvla issued a new v5 without any issues.
Andy graham will give you good advice, as your situation may be slightly different
