Thanks for all responses!
Enjoy the winter driving. I won't be back on the road until summer 2021 at the earliest, but I have no doubt it'll be worth waiting for!
Stay safe!

For the first three years I lived here in Canada my Elan was my only car, used it summer & winter. Narrow tyres are better than wide ones in the snow, just look what the rally drivers use. My biggest problem in the winter was getting the engine up to temp, I had to block off most of the front opening. Funny thing was that the engine had the other problem in the hot weather, running too hot especially in traffic. The Stromberg cars always run hotter than the Weber cars.

I bought my Elan as my winter classic. Galvanised chassis, fibreglass bodywork and a good heater what is not to like. Top down down it's perfect for blowing away the cobwebs on a crisp winters day.
I daren't use my MGC in the winter, just a glance at a salted road would turn it into a pile of rust

My winter car is a MG TD. It requires ice, or at least a pile of wet leaves, to get a good drift going. With a set of insulated coveralls, it's not so bad. Starts on the button, even in cold Montana mornings.

How old are your tyres?
If they are four years old now, bin them when you put the Sprint back on the road.
