How can one differentiate between a S1 and a S2?
Cheers,
Pete.

The easiest to spot differences are as follows:
Externally the S1 has and Elan 1600 badge and round rear lights, while the S2 has an appropriate badge and oval rear lights.
Internally the S2 has a full width dashboard with a glove box lid, while the S1 has a separate glove box without a lid.
The S1 has folded metal tabs on the inside of the window to raise and lower them, while the S2 has a cast moulding.
There was some cross over between the models some some S2s might have S1 features and vice versa.
