Quick questions about the 26R

Thanks David. That is excellent. My friend and I were definitely getting the backstories of the two 26 R’s confused. I think I recall seeing something earlier about the 26R coming from Eastern Canada, but I thought it was incorrect. And thanks for clarifying the story on the Type 14.

I actually bought my first car indirectly from Chequered Flag. It was owned by the lead mechanic (and other principal). A little red MG Midget Mk I, very similar to a Bugeye. Went everywhere in that thing, including California. It met its demise at an overpass near the Peace Arch crossing, loosing badly to a ‘black ‘59 Chevy. The tow truck driver was putting a V8 in a Bugeye and wanted it for parts. I got $50 and a ride home, which I thought was pretty good.

Just checked mine and they tighten to the rear, i.e. the rh (driver's side) is a left hand thread, as the 26R setup notes suggest.

I think this belongs on the current thread on 26R spinners under suspension steering brakes wheels

Just had a look to 26 R14 original rear suspension I keep because "who knows" and it is " tightening to the rear" when it came out of the factory which seems to be mechanicaly speaking (in large sens of term)correct and my old french friend involved in so many lotus" "strange things" said to me ( but after so many "apéritif") it was an idea of Colin Chapman who thought i would be easier for ladies to change a wheel in case of flat tyre ?????pffffft ....

I forgot to say it was an idea of colin chapman to use usual tightening direction in a way not to disturb ladies driving an elan .....sorry too many aperitves too
