Rohan, that's exactly right.
The bobbins I got from SJ sports cars have a flange on both sides so do I cot the bobbin in half and insert one half from the bottom and one from the top or do I need to cut and re fiberglass the new one in?

Cut the fibreglass until the hole large enough to fit the bobbin in.. You can fit the bobbin in sideways and then turn it to minimise how much you cut away of the glass. You don't cut the bobbin. Then you layup new fibreglass to the bobbin on both sides keeping the bottom of the bobbin flush with the bottom of the body like the other bobbins
I think the workshop manual has a diagram of how to do it
