Now that is truly awful........like painting a moustache on the Mona Lisa !
Wasn't there a thread recently regarding copyright and ownership of pictures.....must look it up.

But I do (although it is a genuine Sprint with gold bumpers) and not trying to be something it is not!
A Loser would have a fetish with black bumpers .....

Hey Brian, when did you get an S3 Coupe??!! Looking good, and you must be looking after it as it has its own damp-proof membrane to stand on.
When I was looking for my first Elan I really wanted a yellow Sprint, or a red one, but they were way too expensive. I ended up with the white S3 Coupe which, back then, I thought looked very plain. To make matters worse, one of the first old road tests I read after buying the car was in an American magazine, maybe Road and Track, and they were testing a white car. They loved the car, but didn't think that the 'refrigerator white' did anything to enhance its appeal.....and that just compounded my dislike of my white paintwork!
But over time I got to like it, and like it a lot. White is quite understated on the Elan, and shows the lines off very well.

Hi Mark,
I got it about the middle of last year, it is in the Lotus records as an SS (although its UK SS spec if there is such a thing!) I have posted quite a few questions regarding the differences and are still trying to find where the inner door handles were sourced.
It had a fortune spent on it then stood neglected for 8 or 9 years, I started fixing it up but due to an operation (and the onset of winter) it is on the back burner at the moment.
Regarding the membrane, that is part of a ?Carcoon? as the other Elans live in the garage, when we had the snow the other week the Carcoon collapsed so I just deflated it to check everything is OK.
While it was down I thought I?d just snap it alongside the S2, I like the white on the Elans and the S2 was resprayed its original Cirrus white, the S3 (white) and Sprint (Yellow over white) are also in their original colours but were already like that when I acquired them.
I have not really put it through its paces yet......roll on summer.

Of course...I remember the SS questions now...not sure that I'd seen the whole car though.
A similar collection of 2 seaters to mine, except that my S2 was red originally, and is in bits! Oh, and the Sprint is an S4, and is white....and the S3 Coupe is white but not an SS.
OK, not too similar!

Why on earth would you want to wait for summer?
.....because:
1. I was busy with the wiring and it is not finished
2. I was busy with the interior and the upholstery/seats/dash etc. is not finished
3. The steering wheel is not fitted
4. The brakes have not been used for nine years.
5. The head gasket is leaking
6. It is sorned so not taxed/insured/MOT'd
7. I am still recovering from an operation and movement is restricted so cannot get stuck in yet.
.......SO is that enough reasons or do you want more?... maybe you would like to come round and do a bit on it?

OOOOOOOOOOOOH ERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
Touched a nerve there did I!!
Good enough reasons of course - not explained in your previous post - my point bluntly put is that too many cars are not used enough. "Roll on summer" typifies that attitude.
If that does not apply to you, then I am sorry. I hope your operation was an success - I see my spinal surgeon tomorrow and the only car I am truly comfortable in is my Elan! Audi/Toyota - PAH! Managed 802 miles in a day in France with nary a twinge.

Black is the "in" colour for white Elans. Ask Mazzini - he know.
Pardon? I'm sorry I just woke up.
I think somebody should speak up for the mob of yellow Elan owners

Really?.....when I wrote in my previous post ?but due to an operation (and the onset of winter) it is on the back burner at the moment.? seems quite clear to me.....unless of course you would like to view my medical records?

Why? as far as I understand the legislation as long as the vehicle is SORNED and is on private land then it does not need any tax/insurance/MOT.
This subject has been discussed here previously, see this thread:
elan-f15/road-tax-insurance-change-t22775.html
Although I have edited #4 to take out the bracketed reference to driving.
