Brian Buckland Book
I'll do a review, and I'll even pay for it!
I have just bought my first Elan (in bits) and am embarking on the rebuild, so it is pretty good timing (although NOW would be better!).
Any chance of a rough copy now? Don't mind paying etc, but as I am just starting out it would be really helpful.
Thanks
Bruce

To those of you who still think it is 1968, ?80 is not so much when you think what you will be getting. Yesterday I filled up my diesel Zafira, it cost me ?52. Puts it into perspective, I think.
Cheers,
Pete.

Perhaps I may live in the past, but I still think, even by todays standards ?80 is one helluva lot of dosh for any book.
I suppose I may well be in a minority here having a very modest income, but ?80 IS a lot of money from my perspective.
If the new book is really gonna tell us something new and is genuinely authorative then I may well be wrong (it happens ) I will watch the reviews with interest!
FWIW, ?52 for diesel is also daylight robbery ........ but I suspect you knew that already.
Remember folks this is only an opinion ...........which I hope I'm free to express?

Chevrolet do a new workshop manual for the Corvette for every model for every year: 110 quid every time!
Eighty doesn't seem so bad - I'd still have to think about it tho'. Eighty doesn't come that easily to me but i'd get it - as a percertage of the rebuild price - it's not a big part

I have recently been in touch with Brian about this subject and have the following info.
Brian left on the Club Lotus Stand at Stoneleigh a printed copy of the book, 3/4 completed, for interested parties to peruse. He hope to have the book completed within the next 3 weeks, it being set up for printing at the moment. As for cost, I quote Brian directly -
Did anyone see the book at the weekend and if so any comments?
Regards,
Karl

'There has been much discussion about cost (?80 ?) and all I will say at the moment is that it will be as cheap as I can make it.'

... e-mail from Brian:
"I signed a printing contract at the beginning of December and we have sorted the technicalities of the printing process from my computer to theirs and to the press. If they were printing over Christmas I would be there now. They will be working next week and I will be at the works at 09.00.
Realistically, they want 3 weeks so it is going to be the end of January so
not too much longer."
Form an orderly queue boys......
Pete.

This book was on the Club Lotus stand at Donington if I'm not mistaken........... I think the price was ?70. It was printed on what appeared to be A4 computer paper , in one of those 2-ring lever arch files. I asked was this the finished article , & was told no , that it would be properly printed & bound , if I rang the club office the following week they would have more details . Unfortunately , I have not got round to calling them yet so don't know when it is being printed. It certainly was a meaty enough volume , & from the quick look I had , seemed to be very comprehensive indeed , with plenty of photos , diagrams , charts etc. & a very comprehensive text .
