The choice of words in the original post is reminiscent of that seen in fraudulent investment spam email, I very much suspect it was a "wind up". We all know that "which car is better" debates generally result in a loss for all participants. Better in which of the dozens of contexts? Given where I have spent my money I am clearly a fan of Lotus. Having said that I also declare that anyone not thoroughly charmed by a Morgan trike is cold-blooded. In our local group we have a fellow owning an old, Triumph-engined Morgan as well as several Lotuses (please don't start flaming on the proper use of the plural). George usually arrives in his Morgan because it is pretty damn simple to keep in operation and I have a hard time keeping up with him in my modern Acura on certain roads, more because George is less concerned for speed limits than I am. And Ed, we'll soon be half way to a V8 Elise when the V6 Evora arrives in the colonies this year.

Horses for courses innit.
I remember years ago a Brit immigrating out to my part of the world, (N.Z.),and bringing his +8 with him. We, and some of the boys, would get together on weekends and go for a bit of a "drive". A few Elans. Sevens, Healeys and even a Marcos.
The +8 was so firmly sprung that it started to slowly fall apart on our roads. Unless it was on a surface akin to a billiard table it was hilarious to watch.
I remember following him down a country road and watching in amazement as he fought and musceled it along, Jumping sideways, both rear wheels in the air on occassion. I was barely cruising, lighting a smoke as I recall.
I think the last straw was when I passed him around the out-side of a sweeping bend, steering with a couple of fingers of one hand and giving him a cheery wave with the other.
The best part of the story is that he sold the Morgan and bought a Sprint !
Ralph.

Well nothing more from "lexi" so I suppose we can assume he's a"troll".
We've not had one of those for quite a while.
Are these just wind up merchants or can they be more dangerous & what do they stand to gain
Cheers

I may offer some perspective on this.
I owned both a 59 +4 and a 64 S1 at the same time. Both restored. I had a 7 race car as well and have a Honda S2000 and had a Miata.
The Elan is (I still own it) a refined, fully modern handling sports car, a good track car with mods, responsive and communicative beyond any street car and Jay Leno's favorite drive of all his many cars. But with modern rubber I can't drive safely near enough to the car's limits to push it on the street. Still a nice ride but too fast and handles too well to do that. I go to Lime Rock to go fast (around 1:03 with race rubber - before new paving)
Great fun to drive though.
The Morgan is a crude handling essentially pre war car but with much lower limits with the all the good and bad of a pre war car. A handful but Fun to toss around and hang out the rear end on a 40 mph bend where the Lotus would be still be effortlessly tracking around the same bend at 50.
So which car I would choose depended on my mood and what I wanted to do that day.
The Morgan is a much better crumpet catcher - friendly and un-threatening. Most people think the Elan is just a Miata.
I drive the Elan often.
I sold the Morgan

Please please could you fix it to clarify why an elan is better than a morgan.
An on going argument has resulted in tension between friends. We all think the morgan is better looking and more stylish but I still think the elan is better
Many thanks
Lex.
Piss off; troll. Responding to a non-existent post, not capitalising your proper nouns, not hyphenating "on-going" and, even worse, describing yourself as "we". Twat.
Cheers,
Pete.
