Jon

I think you have done well & been very lucky. They don't come along that cheap, that nice, that often.
The colour is fab, I think that deep down many of us are a tad green with envy :D.
Pastacio is my second favourite colour (after Colorado Orange, that is - yeah, I know someone has to like them)
& I think it suits the car superbly.
I was even temtped to buy it myself as were a lot of other people I'm sure (explaining it to my wife would have been fun) Nice to see it go to a private buyer & not a trader too.
I think you were right to jump in feet first as I just cannot see how you can lose. I hope you have an enjoyable summer.

Please let us all know stuff like what it is really like in the flesh & how it drives. Pics of interior & engine bay would be much appreciated.

Regards

Adam

P.s. I noticed on the photos that it is missing the gold tape on the rear of the car on both sides. Send me a pm with your address & I may be able to send you some.

I must say that I am absolutely gutted. I have had a couple of great looking cars sent to me but this was obviously too good to be true. Always fancied that colour.

That is really unfair. I am assuming he realised he could get more, or he got a higher offer in the meantime, but he definitely shouldn't have led you on and let you book flights, etc. My wife and I were really sad about hearing it as I was excitedly telling her this morning that the car is going to someone obviously looking to enjoy it. There will be others, don't let it bring you down too much.

Jon

He's a bad man, and that is putting it nicely. Whatever happened to honour & keeping your word?

Adigra is right though, there will be other, better cars...............just be patient, it obviously was not meant to be.

Keep looking & don't let it get you down , there is an Elan out there somewhere with your name on it.

As Mark said, I'd have a look at the yellow S4SE with low miles on pistonheads. Could be really nice & you never know you might be able to get a good deal on it, you certainly deserve a break.

Thanks 4 the advice and the vendor has offered to pay back the flight cost which helps.

Might be a blessing I guess!

Have been offered a lovely S3 FHC in white which looks very nice and may get to see a couple of cars next week.

Sorry to hear that. He may just have seen this topic saying what a great looking car is is and how cheap it was!!

Lesson for the future...do the deal and get the car BEFORE putting it on a public forum.

Agree, but in this case it was not me that put it on the forum. Seeing it on here did make me wonder though!

The vendor was trying to buy a Lotus Cortina from Belgium and the deal fell through.

Realy sorry to hear the news perhaps a case 'if its too good to be true it probably is' yet we all obviously feel for you. I had a similar case back in 92 over a BMW E28 m5 also in Scotland!

Ironically I did purchase the very same car about two years later...

Best of luck with your search and may the 'new one' prove to be a winner be content that you had not seen it and maynot have been all one would want!

Hi Jon

I bought the Red dhc S4 with the bad paintwork at a very good price and it does need a repaint but suits me for now until I can afford to paint it or upgrade to a sprint. It amazed me why someone would spend all that money on a new chassis again painted badly, ?3,000 on an engine rebuild, new suspension parts and the list goes on (got a box full of reciepts) then employ Stevie Wonder to do the paintwork

Paul Matty spent 4 days running over the car to make sure it was ok and supplied the car with a fresh MOT. It has a few niggles which I am ironing out, mostly bad electrical connections and and has a slight misfire so needs tuning. All in all not bad for ?8k for a dhc S4.

Anyway the main reason for the post was that on Saturday he had a Pistachio FHC Sprint for I think ?12 or 13,995 which is not advertised on his website nor on Pistonheads. It looked in really good condition.
