My Sprint

It is the same car from Keswick then! I remember he did have an art shop there. Good to know the car is still going strong and in fantastic condition.

Nice to see the shine on the blue. :D
My L reg. fixed head was the same colour scheme, but never had a shine. The surface was like crocus paper!
When I rebuilt the car, I opted for yellow/white as a change from the red/white which seemed to be the rage at the time.
Think I should have stuck with the blue.

Mark 030358,

Either you have a very early prototype Elan or you are 7 months older than me!

Lovely car and even lovelier Radiator. I have tried to find your S3 rad on e-bay with no success. Do you have the suppliers details as I have considered a Tony Thompson rad but in my pretty much standard car I think it may look a bit "Bling".

A couple of questions: Are you able to drive the car on a hot day without the heater valve turned on?
What arrangement do you have for the radiator fan switch?

I hope you haven't sold the car! Thanks for any help you can give me.

Cheers,

Ian

If you would rather PM me no probs.

Ian

I think this is the radiator Mark fitted http://www.geocities.com/richtrfc2/Apri ... imaid3.jpg

I'm wondering about getting one of these - I'm nearing getting my Sprint back on the road after many years of festering in the garage! I remember well having to keep the heater on [and the windows down] most of the time to keep the engine temperature down hence the thoughts of going for one of these radiators - although there is an interesting thread going at the moment on the forum elan-f15/what-the-best-radiator-solution-t18389.htmlon radiators suggesting that a refurb of the old radiator with a 3 core and a modern fan is adequate.

Try this link instead http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LOTUS-ELAN-RADIAT ... 1|294%3A50 - the other link is an interesting pic of the Aquitania but a little off topic!! [An inadvertant give away of another interest of mine which is postcards of old Cunarders  ]

Hi Ian/Richard,
I'm not in the UK at the moment, back circa two weeks, so will get name for you then.

Radiator is great... circa 75 degs on a warm day, maybe 80 on a hot one. However when standing in traffic, irrespective of what radiator you havethe temp will rise. I fitted a single Pacet fan, radiator is fitted with a screw in temp switch and I also added a manual override switch for peace of mind. By the way you can order the temp switch and rad at he same time.

Quality is excellent and the fit is good, I have no complaints. Also good, prompt delivery. Also the first rad I received was damaged in transit by post office, they immediately sent me another.... great service. Buying direct is same price as ebay.

cheers
Mark

Richard, Mark,

Thanks for the radiator details. I will give the company a call during the week. It is good that they will fit a temp sensor thread - saves the kenlowe style wire in the top hose or the always dodgy looking otter switch (which I have at the moment).

Cheers,

Ian

Mark & Richard,

Thanks for your help with the Radiator, I ordered one the Monday before the bank holiday and it arrived before the weekend. I had the switch fitted and painted black. I refitted my elec fan and finished everything off this morning (including attaching horns to the aircleaner in the nose as they were previously on rad bracket). The car was invited to a friend of its 80th birthday (a Frazer Nash Super Sports) and so the test drive was an 80 mile round run. It ran at 70 - 80C with heater off and actually cooled down on a blast up the Marlow bypass - it would have heated up before.

Looking forward to a hot trip in France now - with cooling footwell air rather than scortched hairs on the right calf.

Cheers & thanks again,

Ian
