Where Are You Yan 4g?

PostPost by: moffat » Tue Sep 07, 2004 10:59 pm

20 years has shot by since I parted company with my S4 dhc reg YAN 4G. Being of that certain age I now crave Elan ownership again, but first things first, is my old car still out there ?

It was painted a non-standard and rather crazed black. It caught fire twice in my ownership and I think I'm still paying the bill that Spyder sent me for a rebuild.

Being a sensible person I part exchanged it for a Lotus Sunbeam. Does "Yan" still exist ?

With apologies for bumping this one back to the top..I'm still searching.

I sold the car to a guy called Noel Francis (or Frances) who used to race and rally (whisper it) Panther Limas.

Surely this car must have survived, any leads ?

This is what DVLA hold:

he vehicle details for YAN 4G are:

Date of Liability Not Available
Date of First Registration 10 02 1969
Year of Manufacture Not Available
Cylinder Capacity (cc) 1558CC
CO2 Emissions Not Available
Fuel Type Petrol
Export Marker Not Applicable
Vehicle Status Not Available
Vehicle Colour BLACK
Vehicle Type Approval

So it hasn't been declared scrapped or exported, but it hasn't been on the road for a long time either, as date of liability is not available.
So it may just be tucked away in a garage somewhere. Maybe worth checking with Club Lotus?

Don't believe everything the DVLA site tells you ...I scrapped an old Toyota 12 months ago yet it shows up as unlicenced despite returning the V5c and being sent a letter to confirm that fact.
