Hello all,
Just bought a 1968 +2 project. Lots of work to do, but at some stage will need a respray and removal of blisters. Can anyone recommend anyone in the southwest (south and west of Bristol)? Is there a special skill/technique to working with old Lotus bodies, compared to later (2000 onwards)?
Thanks

Hello and welcome to the forum.
There are a few Lotus specialists in the south west. I am sure you will get a few suggestions and recommendations from other members who have used them.
A proper respray on an Elan/Plus 2 is a big expensive specialised job so it is worth travelling for the right company.
Modern Lotus bodies are different to our older type. Main problem with older bodies is they have aged and weakened over time. My Elan needs a full body job and respray. They will take it back to gel coat, repair any cracks and strengthen body where needed. They will then finish with a new thin layer of fibreglass over the entire body before its resprayed. As mentioned its a big job, but when done properly there are owners with 20 year old resprays that still look good.
We look forward to hearing all about your Plus 2. Is it a runner, on going restoration, full rebuild etc
