Engine vibration

PostPost by: hector9 » Fri Jul 26, 2024 2:09 am

Hello, I am having a problem with a small elan s4/sprint where engine vibrations are being transmitted into the car and causing a very uncomfortable feeling. Has anyone taken measures to prevent that?

Looking forward to everyone's advice. Thank.

Check that you engine mounts have not collapsed and that the carbs are not hitting the footwell.

cheers

It might be worth checking whether your flywheel and clutch bolts are tight.

Hi Hector
Just put a reply on what did you do to your elan today
Regarding your vibration Rohan has said check the engine mounts. This is exactly the problem I had with the same symptoms as you have. The cause was a collapsed engine mounting on the passenger side NSide. take off the bonnet and look at the engine if its listing excessively to one side its probably the engine mount. My mounts have only done 2500 miles so the bonding of rubber to steel now is rubbish.
Hope this helps

Engine mounts most likely, probably the one under the ex manifold as it takes the most heat.

Alternator bracket bolts etc.
Born, and brought home from the hospital (no seat belt (wtf)) in a baby!
Find out where the limits are, and start from there
