Pedal box spacing (new body)

Hi all. I bought a project elan last year and am getting further along on reassembly. The first thing is it's a brand new body so most holes haven't been drilled which also means I have no references! Since I got the car I've wondered if the pedal box was installed in the correct location. I can see that it was installed as far outboard as possible before the brake master reservoir touches the fender however on the inside, this leaves just 3.25" between the tunnel and the brake pedal. The gas pedal hits the tunnel with no carpet around 2.5" of travel. I don't have big ft(size 10.5) but there's no way I'll be able to make it work.
It looks like the whole pedal box is shifted toward the tunnel by around an 1 in but unless I swapaster cylinder reservoir there is no way it'll clear the fender. Id appreciate it if someone with a tandem master lhd car could take a measurement of the distance between the body and the brake master for me. I'm wondering if perhaps I have a rhd body or some other oddity. Thanks
