Correct about the change being on S3's, I've had a 1966 S3 "pre-airflow", and an early 1968 S3 with airflow, so sometime in 1967, can't say an exact date.
Current :- Elan S3 DHC SE S/S 1968,
1963 Alfa Giulia Ti Super Rep.
Previous :-
Elan S3 DHC SE SS 1968,
Elan S3 DHC S/E 1966
Elan S3 FHC Pre-Airflow 1966
1963 Alfa Giulia Ti Super Rep.
Previous :-

Elan S3 FHC Pre-Airflow 1966

This is one of those questions it is impossible to be definitive about, as in many things historical with Lotus of the 1960s.
From my records Unit No 6843, invoiced in April 1967, is noted as the last car with the pre-airflow roof, which gives you an idea of when-abouts the change over likely occurred. We can be sure there may be later cars with pre-airflow, as well as earlier cars with airflow vents, as new moulds were introduced and old stock used up.

Normal convention says that the A pillar is otherwise called the windscreen pillar, so is the OP referring to the nozzles that are in the A pillar (windscreen pillar) trims, or the extractor vents, which are in the B pillar?
My July '67 S3 FHC and my Nov. '68 S4 FHC have both.
