Huco petrol pump woes

Hi
I have installed a Huco 13300 pump in the boot (trunk) replacing the old mechanical pump.
Sadly, I broke down a couple of weeks ago and had to get a friend to tow me home. The petrol pump had packed up (about 4 months old!). I concluded there was a dead short inside it as, when taking 12v from a battery charger, the charger started smoking!
The supplier sent me a new one under warranty which I installed but absolutely nothing. Back on the bench, connected to 12v, from a battery this time, absolutely nothing. No buzz, no hum, no nothing. I was trying to pump fuel from one can to another so it wasn't "dry".
Surely I can't have two faulty pumps??
Anyone have any advice or thoughts please?

Was it a real genuine huco or a clone? Where did you buy it?
I think the are a lot of cheap clones around and I wouldn't be surprised at this type of failure from those.

It's very difficult to say definitively but, assuming you've done everything right, it sounds like two dodgy fuel pumps.
I have one of these in the S4:

But it is only used for priming. I have kept the mechanical fuel pump. It's never let me down.
In the race car I have two of these:

and a fuel pressure regulator set at 4.5psi

I got it from Autodoc.co.uk
Interestingly, the box it came in is branded "Huco" but there's nothing on the actual pump saying "Huco" or anything else.
Chinese copy??

Put a meter across it and if you get nothing it’s duff. Return and ask for a refund and get one from a more reputable supplier. There are some Huco ‘type’ pumps out there which are about half price what an actual Huco pump is. I nearly made the same mistake myself.

I have a pair of Huco pumps (133000 and 133010), both have identifying part numbers etc. on the actual pump body. Purchased from an authorised Weber spares supplier (via Ebay shop). 133000 fitted in the boot of my S4 and works faultlessly.

Hello,
I'm sorry to have to resurrect this topic but I am completely flummoxed.... I now have two new Huco 133000 pumps both of which work perfectly on the bench when connected directly across a battery.
I have put a light across the positive and earth wires which I intend using for the pump and it lights up.
Yet, when I connected up the pump, it went for 2 or 3 seconds then stopped. And not a glimmer of life since.
What on earth is going on? Any thoughts, very welcome.

Are you saying it won't pump on the car with just the electrics connected, or did you also connect up the fuel inlet and outlet hoses before trying it? I'm pretty sure the Huco is self regulated so will stop pumping when the carbs are full (engine not running obviously). If you have connected up the fuel try cracking open one of the carb banjo's.
I'll also own up to reverse fitting the inlet and outlet when I first installed mine It's worth a check.

This!
It will pump until the float chambers are full, then stop. If the engine is running it will "pulse" when the carbs need fuel, so at idle it pulse say every 10 seconds, at full throttle I imagine is pulsing almost constantly.

The genuine huco German made stuff seems fine.
In the previous pic is one of the glass fuel filters.
I binned mine as the rubber seals are perishable and the whole thing becomes loose.
Leaking or draws air.
Sadly I've no petrol mower to put it on.
The metal canister fuel injection filters are higher flow and filtration spec with no joins or things to melt/degrade.
