Sewing is a skill that doesn’t only let your creativity flow through you but also teaches you many great things. Adults and kids alike can benefit from this craft if they pursue it with full heart. Some of the skills it teaches you are management, problem-solving, multitasking, patience and much more. Read on, and you’ll be convinced that sewing is the right path for your kids.

Finding High-Quality Sewing Supplies

It's a fact that the world of online shopping can be a cunning one. You buy a high-priced sewing machine, but the next week, you discover it's cheaper. Or the fancy serger you thought you'd always need, the one that was collecting dust in the corner (anyone remember glitter glue?). Sewing fans fear not—we've all been there before!

We at CraftsSelection.com Imagedo more than just locate the greatest offers for you. Our goal is to assist you in making wise decisions so you can avoid buyer's regret and get started on creating joy. And how better to kindle that creative spark than by imparting it to the following generation?

You'd be wondering, but why sew?

Now fast-forward to the top 5 reasons why teaching your children to sew is an investment in their future rather than just teaching them a neat skill!

1. Promote Mathematical Skills

Although most children despise math, it is a necessary subject for them to study. Most of you might not be aware that sewing might force your kids to deal with numbers. Math is used in measuring the fabric, calculating how much you'll need, and cutting it into appropriate portions.

2. Teach Them To Mend Clothes

Even little tasks like repairing a torn seam or sewing on a button have great value. Instead of encouraging an "it's broken-we'll just buy new" thinking, it promotes "make-do." Your mini-me will become a more conscious shopper as a result, and they won't grow up to be a victim of quick fashion.

3. Develop Fine Motor Skills

Early sewing activities have the advantage of stimulating a child's development in several areas, including social and emotional growth. Through sewing activities, children acquire patience as they carefully put the threaded needle into the fabric, a skill that requires accuracy.

Kids can benefit much from sewing as it fosters the development of fine motor skills. Grasping small things with your thumb and index finger is known as a pincer grasp, and it is necessary while threading a needle. Sewing can help kids who might have trouble with this crucial skill.

4. Improve Coordination

Your kids can execute simple tasks like transferring a fork from a plate to their lips thanks to this skill. Youngsters who learn to sew by hand naturally get better at threading a needle.

When sewing, they need to focus on what they're doing and use their hands to handle the fabric and needle correctly. Children who do this will develop the habit of hand-eye coordination, which will be useful for typing, playing sports, and even just finishing their schoolwork!

5. Encourage Creativity

They can realize original concepts with a palette of vibrant threads and textiles. Giving kids the ability to design their patterns, choose materials, and even decide which stitches to use will help them better convey their individuality and sense of flair.

Two sides of the same coin: creativity and self-expression. Sewing and other crafts let kids explore the world and express themselves in a better way. By encouraging them to indulge in sewing more often, you are helping them achieve a sound and healthy mind.

Sewing teaches them to be more active and inculcate in them the ability to learn and adapt to the environment. As a result, children become more aware of themselves and their emotions.

Hi Thomas,
Only one of the companies you mentioned is in the USA, so that narrows things down a bit. I'm not aware that Bean offer any services but give them a call and ask if they have any recommendations. Others will be along here shortly who can give you more solid advice, but twin-cam specialists are few and far between in the USA so let us know where you are and that may help.

I would add Mountune in Los Angeles and Tony Ingram just north of LA in Sant Barbara.

Getting 160hp from a twincam requires signficant and expensive modifications for either larger capacity or higher RPM . If its for a road car aiming for 145 to 150 hp HP is much more doable and much cheaper as it can be done with just replacement cams and a carb rejetting (assuming you have a good Weber head to start with) and a good exhaust.

Some more details on the current engine you have and its intended use would be good.

As mentioned knowing where you are in the USA will help narrow down the options if you want someone to remove and rebuild an engine for you.

cheers

In the US, I'd also look at Arnie Loyning or Jay Ivey in Portland, Oregon. Both shops have extensive history with both Formula Ford and Lotus Twincam engines. Loyning used to race an Elan, so knows how to work with them. Ivey is among the most respected Ford-based engine builders in the nation.

What is "DTR"?
