Auto journalist, Jason Cammisa with Hagerty mentioned in his latest "Carmudgeon" podcast that they've filmed and are now editing an episode of "Revelations" about the Miata. The episode will include how the Mazda team were inspired by the Elan.

Here's a link to "Carmudgeons" where Jason starts to discuss having the Elan in studio.

I'm looking forward to the Mazda video as Jason and the "Revelations" team do a fantastic job of being entertaining and informative. Just check the video they did on the Lotus Carlton/Omega.

Cheers,
Kiyoshi

This has been told many times. I just want to add, that every car company buys each others cars, tears them down and look for ideas. I'm sure Miata looked at the Elan, probably the MGB and others and came up with a fine car for the times.

Fred, absolutely true. Mazda and Tom Matano used the MGB and the Elan as inspiration for their design. I toured the Academy of Art in SF a month ago. Mr. Matano, director of Industrial Design led the tour and said exactly as you.
There is no cure for Lotus, only treatment.
