Saw this nice Elan at Cadwell last weekend. The caption on the bumper made me chuckle.
Cheers

I?m guessing some folk in other countries might be scratching their heads about this? In an attempt at enlightenment: Trigger was a comic if somewhat obtuse character in the iconic series Only Fools and Horses. He?d need a road sweeper for many years and claimed he?d had the same broom for the whole time ... it had only had 4 new heads and 2 handles in all that time.
I?d guess many cars could wear that logo. Amusing though!

The question of what constitutes an original pre-dates Only Fools and Horses, and even the controversy around Bentley 'old number one', and goes back to 'The ship of Theseus' - approx 500BC.
Nothing new under the sun, as they say.

The trouble is some have replaced the head on the broom. Then fitted a new handle to the old head and called it a 26R.
So we end up with more today than were made

I would like to point out, on the 26R front of the "trigger's broom" front, to avoid any confusion; I do own one of these cars that is being built into a 26R style car. We want to make it known that it is not a genuine car however are building the car to exacting specifications. (Do not want to cause controversy)

In which case, the completed car can be called an Elan GTS, as has become the norm for such cars.

Yeah, sure, but "Trigger's Broom" is a way cooler name than "Washington's Axe"

Hi John
We saw that too - made me chuckle and can't fault the honesty. Without wishing to pry, are you the beyond perfect S3 FHC in the display area? I think I've seen it at Cadwell many times and also at Donny at the Historic Festival a few months ago. As my S3 is not quite (as in nearly) ready I had to beg the loan of my wife's big black Beatle (993 Porker) parked top left corner next to the GT40 - yes I was there silly early. My mate had to put his new 'PJS' Elise in with the great unwashed though but we did have an awesome run up in it on the Saturday.
If the S3 is you, I need one of those IWR stickers in my life!
Great weekend

Hi Rob,
No, I think the "beyond perfect S3" belongs to one of the Lincs people.
I did not go in my car, but my Elan is in need of a "Trigger's Broom" sticker as thats what it is.
Yes it was a good days racing with all 15 to 20 min races. Just the rain caused a bit of caos!
Cheers

Apparently, not even "Trigger." Trigger was Rex Trailer's horse in the childrens' TV show "Boomtown" in the 1960's, a contemporary of Bozo the Clown. One of my claims to fame was that his daughter Jill was in my sixth grade class.
