For the ones interested in, the company SUN STAR is manufacturing a first quality die cast model in 1/18 sclale of the Elan S3 (one in red and one in yellow).
References: SS4051 and SS4052 (dated August 2003).
As far as I know this is by far the best model copy of an Elan existing and the first one in 1/18 scale.

They are really beautiful and worthwile !

There seems to be a good choice on the Uk ebay site.
There is also a smaller 1:43 version sold by Vitesse, which even has pop up headlights
I bought one and it seem a more accurate shape than those sold by Koyosho, which I always felt looked too "flat" at the front

I bought one of these as soon as it was available, it is pretty d..... good; the only thing that I think is not perfect is the height of the windscreen which is perhaps 3/4 inch (19mm) too high in real size.
PLEASE DO NOT BE TEMPTED TO BUY THESE MODELS AT SILLY PRICES ON E-BAY, THEY ARE AVAILABLE FOR LESS THAN 20 POUNDS IN THE UK AND EVEN LESS IN THE US!
This company (presumably) has invested a lot of money in having the dies made, so they will be in production for a long time.
Cheers,
Pete

Hmmm, but is is listed as a 1961 S3. Still it looks very nice. Very detailed, right down to S3 door handles.

I bought one, too. A very nice model -- even though the steering wheel is on the wrong side. 8^)
The marketing text is wrong. The model comes on a base that states 1966 Elan S.3.
HTH.
Best regards,
Bob

I can supply 1/43rd kits of Elans and +2's also fully built. More expensive than die cast but they can be built to match any car. I have 1 Sprint kit in stock.
Also available many racing versions including a gulf coloured Elan and a Jim Clark racing version.
see <a href='http://www.mmcars.co.uk' target='_blank'>My Webpage</a> or e mail for more details

I bought my two 1/18 Sun Star Elan S3 (one in red, the other one in yellow) in Waterloo (Belgium) and paid 16 euros each (40 % discount off the official price which was 27 euros) (about 10 UK pounds).
They are currently on sale and there is no need to look for items at E Bay !

yes, they do have:
www.sunstartoys.com
But the shop where I bought the 1/18 replics has sold all of them (to me !!!).
You should get it in any good shop selling die casts.
