Two Elans were used in filming. The first was a white S2 DHC registered HNK 999C; the second was a blue S3 DHC registered DHC SJH 499D. The white S2 was used by a Lotus director after the series finished and subsequently dropped out of sight. The blue S3 was an exhibit at the Cars of the Stars Museum in Keswick, Cumbria, which closed in 2011; its current whereabouts is not known.

Timothy,
The blue Elan is in Northampton having been restored by Messrs Myers for one of their customers locally. HNK 999C is actually rumoured to have possibly been light blue which didn't transfer to black and white film as you say. It's whereabouts and even chassis number are unknown!

The Dezer Collection, an automobile museum in Miami, claims to have a 1966 Elan from the Avengers in their collection. They call it out as being blue. I personally have not seen it, but I plan to go one of these weekends. However, there is no photo on their website, and I can't find any Elan on Google Images for the museum..

Or the same car may have possibly changed hands in the past couple of years. The fact that the website for the museum has no photo makes me wonder if their website is up to date. May be worth a phone call tomorrow.

It appears that the car formerly of the Deezer collection is SJH 499D which is the one that is already back in the UK and has been restored!
Sorry to disappoint you Gary but it will be a long trip to see it now

The good news is, you saved me 15 bucks entry fee to the museum.

hello lotus friends,
i have just seen the various threads on the avengers cars.
i purchased SJH 499D from the dezer collection 2 years ago and shipped it back to UK.
the car was restored to incredible standards by neil myers and his dad.
the car is on its original mint chassis and body/engine.
the car has done 2500 miles from new,and has never been on the road since restoration.
if any member would like to see the car just email me [email protected] and we can sort, it is in Northampton.
i have been looking for HNK 999C for several years but it has vanished completely
many thanks,
deryck.
