Elan S4-Please help me Identify

PostPost by: jbeach » Fri Dec 26, 2014 8:18 pm

Hello All,

I'm trying to track down historic information on my 1969 Elan S4 DHC.

Serial No. is 45/8801. Engine No. G/18623, according to VIN plate in engine compartment, but a tall block conversion was accomplished in mid-80s (apparently by Dave Bean, based on some paper work delivered with car).

Previous Owner was in Ft. Collins Colorado. He purchased the car in 1989 from a man in/near Denver Colorado.

Andy Graham at Lotus has been very responsive, but says this car was never entered into his register, so he doesn't have any specific information to share.

I will be grateful for any information you may provide.

Best,

John

Hello All,
I wanted to make sure my request for assistance didn't get lost in the Christmas hubbub. If there is a different way I should be seeking help identifying my car (posting in a different part of the forum, for instance), would someone please let me know?
Best,
John

John,
Not much help really- I checked the Elan Registry http://www.elanregistry.org/index.php your car does not appear but 8804 does! It's on page 19- note the numbers are not in exact order.
You should add your car to the list.

Thanks Pete.

I appreciate you reminding me of the Registry. I'll definitely add my car as soon as I take a photo I'm proud of.

(The photos on your website are exceptional, by the way!)

Best,

John

Hi all Lotus owners. I am trying to get into the Elan registry and it keeps telling me that my username is not alpha-numeric even when it is. What do I have to do?
Regards
Ian

There seems to be something strange going on with that site. Every time I try to get in, it doesn't recognize my password. I change it and it allows me in. Next attempt to get in, could be the the next day, password again is not recognized and a changing it allows me in. Hmmm,,, I'll try the admin again..
