No experience of them, but in the advert they say:

Here we have a Lotus Elan S3 or S4 bodyshell......'

The S3 is quite different to the S4, and either they don't know the difference, or don't care....for them it's the same thing!!

I certainly wouldn't be interested in their offerings.

I have done a quick search and it looks like the supplier is Boss Motors

lotus-chassis-f36/body-parts-t21774.html#p130468

According to this these guy's have the original body molds. They are in Snetterton so only a few minutes down the A11 from the factory.

A little surprising they don't know the difference between S3/S4 thou. (but I don't either)

I don't think Boss/A1 are claiming to have the original body moulds, whereas I am pretty sure Miles Wilkins does.

If it is Boss Motors, Mick Fincham does have original body moulds, has been building Elan bodies since Lotus moved to Hethel in the mid 60's (first at the factory and then later independently) and obviously does know Elan shells intimately.

Maybe it's someone else taking it on. boss motors has been advertising itself for sale (lock stock & barrel) on Club Lotus magazine over the last 6 months / year.

I know Miles has the rights for all Lotus re manufacture post '82 but don't know about the ?lan.

Their 'sold items' certainly don't seem to have much to do with Elan bodies??

Mick is still there (was about a month ago anyway) but is now in his seventies so that may be the reason the company is for sale.

None of which changes the fact that Mick has original moulds which came out of Hethel and knows Elans like the back of his hand and is very capable of building shells if he can be *rsed.

It is highly likely that many of us are driving Elans which for which Mick layed up the body back in the day.

Mick's relationship with the factory was somewhat strained after he left Lotus employment and was never formalised in any way as far as I'm aware.
