Elan Sprint Cigar Lighter Earth?

Hi,
I've recently purchased a genuine Ford Cortina Cigar Lighter to put in my Sprint, I have located the Purple main wire and panel lighter red/white wire. My problem is there appears to be no location for an earth wire on the cigar lighter body.
Can anybody give me an idea on how to attach an earth to the body of the lighter.
Thanks in advance

I haven't looked at mine for years.
In the diagram it looks as if there is a contact under an extra fitting, not clear at all.

If you can get at the back of your dashboard, make a short black wire with a suitable connector for an earthing point, then strip about a half inch of the insulation and clamp it to the cigarette lighter body using a jubilee clip (Hose clip).

Why are there two identical threads running on this? Technical glitch? I answered the other one

Which thread are we answering?
Here's a photo I sent to pharriso a while ago when we were both fixing our lighters. There are some outer bodies that have a ground spade spot welded to them. The difficulty is that there seem to be outer bodies of several different lengths, designed for dashboards of different thickness. I never came across an outer body of the correct length with the spade, not that I looked hard. I shimmed the cutout at the rear of the dashboard.
Now that I think about it, I did come across a body of the correct length with the spade, but the bulb holder was too close to the front of the body, so it fouled the dashboard.
The previous owner of my Elan provided me with a box of parts that included a couple of broken lighters. I purchased another on eBay and managed to construct one working item. I don't smoke, but I do charge my phone!
