Removing S3 interior door handle

It`s not rocket science, I`ve done it before, I`ve pushed the escutcheon back, exposed the pin...and...will the pin push out? No it won`t. I`ve given it a squirt of WD40. I`ve tried driving it out, hammering rather harder than I`d like. The question is have I forgotten something ridiculously obvious but I can`t imagine what?

Hi Jim,
I do not see anything you would have forgotten!
On my S3, the pin tends to drop from the handle if the black round plastic piece (probably the one you called by this strange word: escutcheon ) turns and positions itself with the hole in it facing the pin.
Regards.
Olivier.

Mine is the same as Olivier's, and I'm wondering if yours has been burred over at one end? Try whacking it from the other side (which if it's still stuck will of course, expand the other end!)

Olivier, you accidentally answered the obvious. As soon as I read it I knew from 2 words; "drop out". I`ve been tapping through the holes in the handle at 3 and 9 `o`clock. On the Elan the pin is vertical and is pushed out at 12 and 6`o`clock. Doh!
Thanks,
Jim
