yellow pain, black bumpers question

PostPost by: Sbarron » Fri Jul 19, 2013 4:03 pm

My elan is yellow with black bumpers. Did they come from the factory like this or is this a aftermarket expression of taste?

I don't know but it's my favourite combination.

Me, too. The PO had had them painted black (car was originally maroon, having been shipped from the factory in primer).

My yellow S3 SE FHC had black bumpers and black steel wheels with the chrome trims when I bought it five years ago. It now has silver bumpers and silver wheels (black on the inside). I much prefer this look but to each his own! 8)

My Elan is yellow with black bumpers and wheels and as near as I can tell it is original. I think that my Dad bought it from the original owner about 25 years ago and was told that it had never been repainted.

All bumpers left the factory silver in color with the exception of the gold Sprint bumpers. Black bumpers were painted by someone else after it left the factory. But everyone has their own preferences.

That has been said a number of times on the site, but having just sanded the bumpers on my yellow S4, there is no sign of silver anywhere. Neither front, nor back. Dan
