Clark, I'm looking forward to being there. I'm working on my Elan everyday to get it ready. Greg and I will be coming up together. His car is ready. Mine is getting closer every day. See you there!

300 historic race cars plus the 50th Anniversary of the Lotus Elan
Want to see Sam Posey's actual Trans-Am Challenger race again?
What about George Follmer's Mustang and Mark Donohue's Camaro?
Be sure to check out the all-new Historic Festival website, limerockhistorics.com. Easy to navigate, lots of good info and lots of great photos.
What you?ll see is that 2013?s extravaganza is a ?birthday celebration? event. Which means very special cars and collections for Aston Martin (100 years), Porsche 911 (50), Lotus Elan (50), Corvette (60) and, the star of the weekend, Cunningham, celebrating its 60th year.
The philosophy of the Lime Rock Historic Festival is that it celebrates not just the static aesthetics of great cars but also the role of the cars in competition; the development of great designs by superbly talented designers such as Jim Hall and Ferry Porsche; and the exploitation of those great cars by superb performances by drivers who have taken cars to the limits in competition of the severest kind over the years in Formula 1, open-road races and endurance events such as the Mille Miglia and Le Mans.
Outstanding cars racing here include Peter Greenfield's ex-Tazio Nuvolari Alfa Romeo 8C 35 Grand Prix car, Jeff Jacobsen's fleet three-wheel Morgan Aero, Howard Katz's Formula 2 European March-BMW, Murray Smith?s ex-Gilles Villeneuve Formula Atlantic Skiroule March (to be driven by ex-Formula 1 driver Jac Nelleman), Jack Boxtrom's unique Chaparral, and a plethora of brilliant and beautiful Fifties sports racing cars.
Don't miss the Revs Institute's Gran Sport Chevrolet Corvette? this is the only one you will see actually competing on a race track, driven by well-known IMSA competitor Roger Mandeville.
And this just in... Lime Rock Park just received the entry list from the Trans-Am historic-racing organizer. It?s a huge group of 30 cars from the golden era of 1966 through 1971 and significantly, each is a true in-period car. These are the cars that were driven by Jones, Donohue, Revson, Follmer, Posey, Gurney et al., and are in their original livery and mechanical states. We are fairly certain this is the biggest field of authentic Trans-Am cars to race on the east coast since the actual Trans-Am races of the early 70s!
The Trans-Am field is made up of 12 Camaros (1967 through 1970 models), eight Boss 302 Mustangs (1969 and 1970), and five Mustangs from the 1966 to 1968 era. In addition, there?s a 1967 Bud Moore Mercury Cougar (as driven by the likes of Peter Revson and Ed Leslie), Donohue?s 1971 Penske AMC Javelin, the iconic Lime Green Sam Posey 1970 Dodge Challenger ? even a Ford Falcon Sprint raced in the first year of Trans-Am.
Trust me, you do NOT want to miss the four Trans-Am races here at Lime Rock Park.
All told, there are more than 300 vintage and historic race cars registered, and each race group ? there are 10 ? will have four races! (Two on Saturday, two on Monday.) There?s a giant pre-war group, too, plus a selection of ultra-quick single seaters in the Formula Libre race.
The 31st edition of the Lime Rock Park Historic Festival, which includes the Sunday in the Park Concours (200 cars) & Gathering of the Marques (another 600+), is Labor Day weekend, August 30 through September 2. No other venue in the U.S. has three days of on-track racing sandwiching a prestigious concours event all on the same property, all at the same time. Since 1983, the East Coast?s premier vintage racing event has been the Historic Festival.
