James - the little old lady comment has gone over my head but the advert says it is owned by a Derek Barrett although the ad appears to be 12 months old.
It appears to be a genuine ad with full contact telephone numbers (which is not typical of a scammer) but the price of the car at ?26500 seems rather cheap assuming what is under the bodywork is just as mean - so all in I'd be a little suspicious. GTS cars often sell for ?60/70K.

No, I didn't mean I thought its a scammer. It was a tongue in cheek attempt at humor. When I said 'owned by a little old lady; i was referring to Dell boy style marketing of this crazy modified car.
If it is the same car as the Blue one, (which I think it is) it had a 2lrt BDG with a ZF S5-18/3 CR gearbox fitted at some point. But the owner was listed a Phil Barret, maybe a brother, dad, or even a misprint.

Interesting, very interesting.. I wonder what the car weighs? What frame (Spider)? Tell me more about the power plant. Very interested in power to weight ratio. I wonder if the molds were saved and how much the aerodynamics has helped? (purely a seat of the pants thing) would be nice. Is there a class to race her in? I guess, I've never seen an Elan taken to this extreme. I'm sure that the purist.......; I wish we could hear more from the people involved!! Love it.

I doubt that a car this exteme would bother with a spyder chassis, it would use something that was an improvement on the 26R chassis.

Pat Thomas at Kelvedon used to race a Modsports Elan back in the 80s. Then he resurrected it:
