I decided to look for an Elan some time ago after abandoning my lifelong ambition to own a Morgan when I had the time.
It was when I was ready to go for the Morgan, joined the club, did the research and tried one, that I decided an Elan might be a better idea.
I thought " My wife is not going to like this".
No disrespect to you Morgan owners, I still think they are brilliant but I decided that an Elan might be better for us.

I looked at about eight cars before buying this unfinished project in April 2011.

When I went to the DVLA in Preston to change the class from Private/Light goods to Historic they said it hadn`t been taxed since the mid 80`s
It is now on the road, looking good and running well, partly thanks to the help I have received from you lot on this Forum.

The last time I had a two seater, it was a 1955 TR2 reg no. PYX233 which I sold in 1962.
It has taken a while but I am back!!!

Two previous owners had done a lot of work on this car. The paint and new chassis were done in 2006, the engine and transmision later.
What had not been done was all the small details which take such a lot of time. This is where I have to thank you on Lotuselan.net for your help with your knowledge and experience.
There are still some more things to change or lmprove.

I have applied to DVLA for History of previous owners but I would very much welcome any information from you if you recognise this car.
A few more pictures taken near home in darkest industrial Lancashire.

Eric get one of both, you know it makes sense.

I like the contrast of the two accepting the faults, vices and plusses of both cars.

Enjoy now that it is on the road.

Thankyou Peter,
That day the wind was blowing the smoke from all the mill chimneys the other way.

John,
Can you have too many Morgans ?
Sorry, perhaps I shoudn`t say that.
Anyway I have neither time, space nor money for more than one play car.

I notice you are just over the hill from me - Burnley is at one end of the Long Causeway, and we're at the other! Nice shots. You don't get days like that too often in Burnley. Or Hebden Bridge.

The car is a lovely colour - is that Lagoon Blue?

Hello ELANSERIES2,
You will know the road from Newchurch to Downham where the photos were taken.
Some how, even if I have just been a short errand I find myself coming home that way even if it is nowhere near where I have been!
The long causeway is also popular with me; or anywhere in the Dales.
I have yet to see another Elan on the road except at a club meeting.
We seem to be a rare beast round here.
A previous owner has just told me the colour might be a later Lotus colour, possibly Elise.
It is a Metallic so not a proper Elan colour.
