Two more questions for the more knowledgeable than me.
1 I know the very first elans had rubber mats instead of carpets but does anyone know the unit no when they changed to carpets?
and
2 Does anyone know where I can get the trim strip that fits between the bumper and the body ?
thanks as ever

S2 SE is the first Elan with carpets that I know of. Anyone else care to offer the definitive answer.

Rod

Paul Matty does a plastic trim strip for the front bumper which is much easier to fit than the original.

Jeff at JAE in the States can help you out with the rubber matting.

Gary,

My S2 SE had rubber throughout. I thought carpets were introduced with the S3.

Hi Brian
Its been discussed before at this link,
elan-f14/carpet-set-for-t16350-15.html
maybe it's time for those that own them to say something about this limited production Elan. I don't own one and never have, to fancy for me (or too much money, or I had just bought another Elan, or any of a number of lame reasons) . I have looked at a couple but sometimes they just look the same. The only Elan that I regret not buying was the early coupe with the red interior that I went up to Maine to look at, I guess the rest I own.

The link I posted has a dead link to Geoff Howerds S2 SE, O was looking for another photo and came across one that I harvested back in April 2009.
