Nearly ready for replacement!

I knew it had started to develop a few cracks so I have kept my speed down to below 60 mph, but now I know I should have stuck to 50mph.

Should've stuck to 0mph more like

What speed were you doing when it failed? Bet it was an "interesting" moment.
Do you have any kind of safety net on your axles for such eventualities?

Totally drama free, I dont think there was a particular failure moment but I did get the occasional 'thrump' noise.

I now know what it was that hit the underside of my car, I just thought I had run over something.

I dont have the anti flail pins and cups on my car so rely on regular maintenance to highlight potential problems, I obvioulsy need to reduce the inspection period

Ian

As a matter of interest, how old was that doughnut?

Tim

Age of the doughnut will have to be a guess, more than 5 years anyway, might even be 10 years.

When I fitted the replacements today that one came off the car in 7 separate bits!

I am almost embarrassed to show this picture. I have replaced a lot of Rotoflexes over the years but I have never had one come off the car in 7 (seven) pieces! There should really have been eight but one bit is somewhere on the Queens highway.

The outboard one was nearly as bad and I can tear off chunks without much effort.

Roll on CV shafts.....

So: as an original owner; how do you propose to play your DPO card?

Years of training at the Poker table (Yes, really!) means you will learn nothing looking into my eyes, but the car has been serviced at a Ferrari establishment and they don't get everything right.
