Things that REALLY bug me....

PostPost by: holywood3645 » Tue Oct 11, 2011 7:59 pm

Sprint Strips that are in the wrong position. I don't know why, but it really irritates me when i see a picture of any elan fitted with the Sprint stripes that are not in the correct position. I don?t worry about the strips being on the wrong model (S1 S2 S3), only if they are placed incorrectly....

being on the wrong model (S1 S2 S3), would render them placed incorrectly

This shows how they were originally, although it's not the greatest factory reference shot, it's the only one I can find on the web which I'm sure is kosher.

Well we are going over old ground on this one and Pete has pointed to the still current dodgy stripes thread. I posted Susan Miller's instructions on here too.

Here are some factory PR photos. Bear in mind that they are mostly early Sprints and that it took the guys on the production floor a while to get the stripes correct, especially at the rear.

Nothing wrong with Susan or her car  I quite like Mick's version of side stripes. :)

Is there much in the mag'? Enought to justify me spending my scarce funds on it?

10 page article entitled "Charges of the light brigade" covering 8 "key" Lotus models:

S3 7 / Elite / Elan Sprint (MM's) / Europa S2 / Esprit S1 / Excel SE / Elan SE (M100) / Elise S1.

Sorry to be pedantic but that's only one thing which annoys you :)

What about people who find fault with your forum posts?

Not that anyone cares but I'm annoyed by people (particularly scientists it seems) who start every sentence with So

Any why do they say an animal went extinct? They all do it, even David Attenborough and the lovely Alice Roberts. Surely animals become extinct (or became in the past tense)

And people who say brought when they mean bought

And, not sure if I've mentioned it before but I hate the meaningless term baby Elan

Oh, and silver cars. Now I know I've never mentioned that one before

I also find people who hijack threads irritating ........

I'm also annoyed by people who reply to their own posts and then go on to moan about things which are not even relevant to a Lotus forum

So, why does that Alice Roberts say "gidd" when she means "good" and why does she sound like she has a peg on her nose?

I would start a separate Pedant's thread but folks would only tell me I don't know how to apostrophicate.

Yes, she says Raimons when (I think) she means Romans. I think it's a sort of middle class West Country accent. Frankly, I don't care how she says it, it's nice to see some intelligent totty (where's the drooling smiley when I need it?) on the screen for a change and she also has the academic authority to present these things rather than the usual "celebrity" presenters they inflict on us.

I'd rather watch her saying nothing than listen to Baldrick Robinson droning on.

I know what you mean. I was expecting to be picked up on my little rant (above) ........there's always time I suppose :)
