What are these little guys for? Help needed before welding.

Happy Monday:

As mentioned in other threads, I'm doing AVO and other mods to my original '66 S2 frame. I'd planned to do reinforce the upper flange forward of the tunnel, as Jerry did in his post here:

However, there are two bushings (or are they bosses?) that would get covered up in the process. Anyone able to enlighten me about what they're for, if anything?

I can't find any posts referencing these items, nor have I been able to find anything in the manual. Also, there aren't any corresponding holes or bobbins in the bodywork at this location.

Any help? Planning to weld this Friday, so time is a bit urgent.

my guess is that they don't serve any current purpose, my S2 chassis
also has these small clear drilled bosses.
I think they might have been used as jigging fixtures or bolt clamps
during chassis manufacture.... "unless I'm terribly mistaken of course".
