This is a moment to share in my momentus experience!
For the first time ever I have driven my Lotus Elan Sprint on the road - for only a half mile to allow pads to meet discs and make sure the wheels go round!
Loti and I have lived and breathed together these past 2.5years while undergoing a complete nut and bolt resto, although in my niavity I thought this would take 6 months to a year! oh how the young have much to learn... but then I'm not even so young.
She arrived in fact 6 years go on the back of a trailer and sat there until work space was prepared - have to say its been as interesting as I thought it would be and I have many on this board to thank for their help and patience and they know who they are. It now remains to complete some snagging and run her down for a track check and MOT then start the running in procedure.
Have tickets for Silverstone Classic and contemplating giving her this run - we'll see how things bed down this week...

Congratulations
Now, with a bit of fettling and perhaps a do over of one or two things you can really enjoy your car. I wish I were one of those who is a fountain of technical knowledge but I'm not. What I am is an enthusiastic driver and encourager of driving these Elans. Have fun!

Well done! This seems to have been a good year for Sprint come-backs.
Cheers,
Pete.

Richard
Congratulations - good to have another Richard Sprint up and running!
You will certainly enjoy the driving - out on country roads, hopefully with the sun shining, there is nothing better. It is the very antithesis of the usual day to day transport. Did a 100 mile round trip through North Wales last week - good quiet roads and despite the human rev limiter [my wife!] in the passenger seat I was able to give the Sprint a good couple of hours exercise. Elans are a bit like dogs and appreciate regular exercise!
Of course the outing wasn't entirely straightforward - a few miles from home and my wife pushes the switch to close her window - there is a loud clunk and the passenger window disappears into the door so a little dismantling and repairing of the window mechanism now needed.

And about time too
Richard, I was most impressed when we first met and you saying the project will be done by the end of the year. Even with a shake of my head and a wry smile - I thought; "this guy must know a lot more than me".
So, as I could see when we last met at the Classic Car Show, the BMW took precedence, so I'll give you the benefit of doubt that the Sprint could have been done in your original timeframe had all your efforts been concentrated on it.
Do you plan on bringing it up to Donington?
