Introduction and hello!

PostPost by: hunterg » Thu May 12, 2011 9:27 pm

Hello to everybody on LotusElan.net! I am a long time Lotus enthusiast, in fact my first car ride home from the hospital after being born was in an Elite! :D My interest in these cars has been since I was a young boy, when my father had several Elans and Elites. Unfortunately my father passed away a few years ago, and I haven't had the time until now to take up an interest in them. Fortunately I do still have one of his Elans, a gorgeous yellow 2 seater, with a DOHC motor that SCREAMS! I don't drive the car often, but I came here hoping to learn more and get involved with the community.

I was wondering if there was anybody on this forum located in the Atlanta, Georgia area. I have boxes full of parts that would be better off in the hands of a fellow lotus enthusiast than collecting dust in my garage, or even worse, in the trash. I don't plan to ever sell the Elan, but I need to free up some space because I am moving.

Anyway, I'd love to post up some pics for you guys to see, just not sure how...

Looking forward to speaking with you guys!

Cheers,
Hunter

Hunter- welcome! Never, ever throw anything in the trash can. Find the space.
If you can use Flickr, it is really easy to paste photos up here.

Welcome Hunter,
There is a very active Lotus club in the Atlanta area and both Frank (Famous Frank) Filichicchia (sp?) and Greg Z on this forum live around there. I don't know the exact location of the meetings but the local president is MICK OPALAK Atlanta, GA [404] 250-0377.

Get involved in the local club and you will find both support for your car and takers for your parts. Have Fun!!

So Hunter, which of your father's Elans did you keep. Why was it special to you or, like my collection, was it the only one running? LOL

In addition to my Lotus, I have my father's flathead V-8 60 powered Model T roadster. I helped him build it when I was a teenager.

I'm also interested in your parts and I will be making a trip through Atlanta in the next few weeks.

Hunter,

Be very wary.... The last time a bunch of Yankees came to Atlanta it was not a good thing. Best to handle this matter at Franks over some mint juleps.
