Hi Mike, just left a message by phone and if it is not raining, I can meet you in Sac. this week. I'm 36/5785, left the line June 27, 1966. Our coupes should be exactly the same. It would be interesting to see what parts Lotus did use on our pre-airflow coupes and if there are any differences. Give me a call for the best time to meet. If you don't have my #, its on my site. http://knockoffspinnertool.com/home

Thank you Christian for the reminder. I had registered my car a few years ago as a DHC. With help from Gary A, we figured out that is was in fact a Type 36 that had been "modified". Took the heater box apart last night and found it to have once been a mouse condo. Weather has cleared a bit today so a bit more fiberglass work is in order.

Thanks all...........I will be collecting my donor top next weekend. Yesterday I dedicated myself to glass work and made quite a bit of progress. Very rewarding. Since Sarto is close, he has volunteered to drive up to Sacramento when we get a bit of a break in the weather. One of my questions is to see how the headliner is fitted...............anyone have a source for back windows?

Well, it took a bit of time dodging the weather but Sarto and I got together last Thursday for me to take pics and go over his S-3 coupe. I had sold one of my Cortinas and delivered it to the buyer who happened to be near Infineon Raceway (Sears Point to us old guys). After dropping of the car, it was only about 15 minutes up to the track. Met up with Sarto and spent about an hour going over his car, taking some notes and lots of pics. You know, all the little details you know you will remember "because this restoration will only take six months" but now it is two years since you took stuff apart and cant remember shit. We were soon joined in the paddock by a very nice Elite whose driver wanted to chat. Then off to Sonoma for lunch. A fill of BBQ then Sarto let me drive back to the track. He has the new Keith Franck metering jets in his webers..........yikes, pulls like a electric motor, sooooooo smooth. When we got back to the track, I took Sarto up to John Anderson's race shop for a quick tour. Looked like Santa's workshop filled with elves. At least four Formula One cars apart, several Juniors and Atlantics as well.
Back down the hill to Wine County Motorsports to spend a few $$$ on a book then back to Sacramento. Many thanks to Sarto for allowing me to climb all over and under his car and for the allowing me to spend some time behind the wheel. Came home with more money than when I left and spent the day with kool cars. What a great day.
