Elan S3 Coup? from US

Hi all,
Just the other day browsing through the specifications listed in my Elan log book I noted in the top corner a US registration number as it arrived from US when imported in 1991.
The number is NTT 565 it doesn't unfortunately say which state it was registered, does anyone have any recollection of this car in US during that period?
Would be nice to know who owned this car in the US.
