Argentina and Chile

PostPost by: Allison » Fri Feb 12, 2010 6:49 pm

Hi all,

I'm not sure how many Elans there are in Argentina or Chile but for a short time there will be one more! We're on the ROARR Patagonia rally from Buenos Aires to Santiago by way of Ushuaia and we fly into BA on Sunday, picking the car up from Customs on Monday (all things being equal). If there are any Elan owners there and you are able to get to the route, we'd love to see you.

This is the car that has been to Dakar (via the Sahara), through India, Nepal and Bhutan and from Kuala Lumpur to Hanoi. Our trip to Morocco last November was, shall we say, of limited success so we hope to do better this time. The picture is of one of our "deviations".

We have a website (though we need to add more of our earlier rallies) and we hope to update it as we progress. If I'm allowed to give details it is http://www.rallyelan.com and the main rally site is http://www.roarrallies.com/future_ralli ... ?rallyId=3

Hopefully we can give reports as we progress (hopefully we will progress!).

Best wishes to all
Allison & Peter

The Morocco adventure is documented in the Jan/Feb 2010 "British Marque" (US publication that comes with my local Lotus club membership). I don't think I would take a Humvee on that rally, judging from the photos. Peter and Allison, my hat's off to you.

I love the sound of a torque wrench in the morning. Sounds like... progress.

All the luck on your latest adventure! Fantastic that you're running the world's toughest rallies in what people normally think of as a very fragile car. Just amazing.

The best to you both.

I have driven long distances in in my old Lotuses but nothing even close to what you have already done and are engaged in now. My hat is off to you both, especially Alison as it is a rare woman who is willing to pursue that level of adventure. I like Rod Bean, too am in awe. May you have beautiful vistas and tiny problems on your trip. I shall be following it with great interest.
